Intel announced its final plan on Sept. 29, 2023, to make an initial investment of more than $20 billion to build two new state-of-the-art semiconductor plants in Licking County, Ohio.

According to Intel, the investment is aimed at responding to the surge in demand for advanced semiconductors, strengthening Intel's next-generation innovation products and meeting the needs of foundry customers as part of its Intel IDM 2.0 strategy.

In the early stages of the project, which will be the largest single private investment in Ohio's history, Intel's direct employment is expected to be 3000 and construction site 7000 during construction, with tens of thousands of long-term employment continuing locally for a broad ecosystem of suppliers and partners.

Meanwhile, Intel plans to donate an additional $100 million (about 135 billion won) to support the construction of the new plant and to partner with local educational institutions, thereby establishing a labor supply chain in the region and strengthening research programs.
