L-H Battery Company

L-H Battery Company is a battery production joint venture between LG Energy Solution and Honda Motor, a Japanese automobile manufacturer.

LG Energy Solution announced on February 28, 2023 (local time) that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for a battery joint venture with Honda near Jeffersonville in Fayette County, Ohio.

The event was attended by key executives, including LG Energy Solution President Kim Dong-myung, Honda Motor President Toshihiro Mibe, CEO of the joint venture and LG Energy Solution North America Vice President Lee Hyuk-jae, and Chief Operating Officer Rick Riggle. State officials and officials, including Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, also attended the event.

The new plant will be built on a scale of approximately 186,000 square meters, with a goal of completion by the end of 2024 and mass production by the end of 2025. The total investment is $4.4 billion and is expected to create 2,200 jobs with an annual production capacity of 40 GWh. Batteries produced through the new plant are supplied exclusively to the Honda plant in North America.
